Jonathan Boulet-GroulxJonathan Boulet-Groulx's work focuses on human issues, aiming to document what often passes under silence. In every situation he photographs he develops a strong relationship with his subject, living with them and sharing their daily lives. His work has, up to now, been directed in Canada and in Haiti, a country he has adopted and made home so often. Being a storyteller, he is now working on international issues that get left behind. "To enter people's lives with respect and dignity, to really care about their daily struggles or accomplishments; that, for me, is to be a documentary photographer. And so I try to look at life through the eyes of a child; always surprised but never judging."

His work looks at life lived very simply and close to the ground, with a focus on social issues affecting local and indigenous populations in the areas where he is working. "The 'license' that photographers feel they have to take photographs needs to be continually re-negotiated with the people they are working with; your relationship to those in-front of your camera is every bit as important as your photographs of them and needs to be just as dynamic, if not more so."
